On Sunday 31st March, there’s a whole host of fun activities for Mother’s Day in Cardiff – great for two or for the whole family – to help show her how brilliant she is.
From spa breaks to unusual afternoon activities, and with ideas for dinner and presents, we’ve got you covered this Mother’s Day.
Days out
Try something different this year… instead of the usual flowers and card, why not treat Mum to something unique? Escape Rooms Cardiff is a logic-bending mind puzzle maze where you have to escape before the time runs out – she’ll never see that idea coming!
Perfect for exercise-and-nature-enthusiasts, Cardiff Cycle Tours offers two bicycle ride tours around the city – through town, or through the Bay, covering the city’s history, landmarks, and places of interest.
For something a little less taxing but still lots of fun, Treetop Adventure Golf in St David’s 2 shopping centre ticks the box! Of course, no day out is complete without a little bit of fine dining – you can join us at one of our Mother’s Day Sunday Lunches at Cornerstone, St Peters Hall, or Cottrell Park Golf Resort.
Spa breaks
Looking for something a little further afield? Visit Wales have a great list of nine luxury breaks & spa weekends that’d be perfect for Mother’s Day in Cardiff or elsewhere. Bring the sparkles at a place like Celtic Manor Resort, or go for the unforgettable with an afternoon fishing in Carmarthen or a long and lazy trip down the Llangollen Canal.

See a show
Take to the stalls and stage with a show! Agatha Christie’s The Mirror Crack’d is at New Theatre, Cardiff from Tuesday 26th March to Saturday 6th April. You’re on to a winner if Mam loves the Queen of Mystery.
If mum prefers a musical then head to the Wales Millennium Centre. Motown The Musical is in town from Tuesday 26th March to Saturday 6th April.
For something more orchestral, the Cardiff University Symphony Orchestra will perform Llareggub to celebrate Sir Karl Jenkins’ 75th birthday on Sunday 31st March.
Become culture vultures
Whether your mum is a history buff or an art lover, Mother’s Day is a good excuse to head into the town and have a walk around Cardiff’s cultural offerings.
At the National Museum Cardiff you can take a journey through evolution or walk through over five hundred years worth of artwork from across Wales and the world.
Or, something you’ve probably always meant to do but never got around to it – Cardiff Castle. You can explore the grounds, battlements, wartime shelters, Norman Keep and the spectacular Victorian apartments.
Hit the shops
One of Cardiff’s most popular Sunday shopping activities is to stroll through the Riverside Farmers’ Market. With organic food to eat there or to take home, plus live music as you sit and nibble, it’s a lovely, low-key way to spend your afternoon.
As the City of Arcades, you could spend hours exploring these landmarks of the Victorian and Edwardian times, with independent boutiques, cafes full of character, antique shops, bridal stores and more.
So there’s a few ideas for things to do this Mother’s Day in Cardiff. And for the perfect dining accompaniment there’s Spiros. With three locations around Cardiff – Cornerstone, St Peters Hall, and Cottrell Park Golf Resort – you’ll find one of our signature Mother’s Day Sunday lunches conveniently close by.
