As experienced caterers, we know what works when it comes to planning your event. That’s why we’ve partnered up with some of the most professionally run and beautiful venues around.
Every month we’ll be choosing one as our ‘Venue of the Month’; this time, its our renovated city centre home-from-home, Cornerstone!
For the newest venue on our list of gorgeous locations, we’re taking a look inside our city centre community venue, Cornerstone Cardiff.
Nestled in the heart of Cardiff city centre on Charles Street, we’ve managed and run Cornerstone since October 2016, for just over a year (at the time of writing).
In that time, we’ve played host to operatic stars, Welsh sports legends, celebrity business tycoons, national charity fundraisers, and even royalty, when Prince Charles himself came to officially open it.

What type of venue is Cornerstone Cardiff?
Cornerstone was originally a large church, with a rich and varied history. But in 2016, we took over as management and set about transforming it into a multi-purpose space for the people of Cardiff.
We wanted a place where Christmas shoppers could come in from the cold for a hot chocolate, while, a few hundred feet away, we make the last finishing touches on a charity fundraiser event for the evening.
We wanted somewhere a bridal couple could feel proud to call their wedding venue, and a community group could feel proud to call their own.
With a vast Great Hall, a meeting room, private dining room, a mezzanine floor, and its very own cafe, The Pantry, Cornerstone has a space for everything.
Its versatility means it’s used for events, concerts, community groups, weddings and occasions throughout the year – there’s never a dull moment on Charles Street!

Of course, being so multi-purpose means Cornerstone can be whatever kind of venue you want it to be.
This year, we hosted our first ever Cornerstone wedding, the BAFTA Cymru nominations party, and a charity fundraiser for Tenovus Cancer Care – and we haven’t even reached the end of the year, yet!
What makes it special?
Typically, our venues are ‘by appointment only’, serving just wedding parties or pre-booked occasions.
With Cornerstone, we have a space that’s open to the public 7 days a week. You can drop in with your laptop for some coffee-fuelled email checking, or bring the whole family for a homemade Sunday lunch.
Its history has seen it become a Cardiff landmark, standing for over 160 years as a beautiful Grade II listed building.
It opened in 1855 as Ebenezer Chapel, the first Neo gothic church in Cardiff, and our restoration work has transformed it into an award-winning venue, having collected the 2017 Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Awards, Wales Building Conservation Award.
Of course, Cornerstone isn’t just Cornerstone. Right at the heart of it sits The Pantry, its very own cafe.
Modern, calm and cwtchy, The Pantry comes with free wifi and all the cakes and sandwiches you could possibly eat in one sitting…
Open Mondays – Saturdays between 9am-5pm and Sundays between 9am-4pm, this little hub offers Sunday roasts, Afternoon Tea experiences, private dining, and just a quiet little place to do some reading or reflecting in the middle of a busy city centre.
We all need our own happy place to retreat to – particularly during the Christmas shopping periods!
What type of event is it ideal for?
With its grand capacity and abundance of function rooms, Cornerstone can cater for pretty much anything:
– wedding receptions
– family and birthday parties
– office Christmas parties
– charity and event fundraisers
– concerts and music events
– private dining
– a coffee & a chat in The Pantry
– community groups – rehearsals, performances
The Pantry also has its own outside patio area for the warmer months that works great for BBQ get togethers.
With our on-site kitchens and our trusted team of professional chefs, we’re cooking up food every day, for meals, light bites, and those special occasions.
As always, we’re on hand to help plan your bigger events, from weddings to parties and everything in between.
This December, we’ll be almost as busy as Santa’s elves as we prepare for our Christmas lunch at Cornerstone Cardiff on December 13th.
With a 3 course meal set to the sounds of Cardiff crooner Darren Tyson, we’re celebrating the festive season in style!
Just a couple of weeks later, we’re ringing in 2018 at our New Year’s Eve party in Cornerstone featuring champagne, a 3 course meal, drinks, music, dancing and more.
Whatever the occasion, we’ll be on hand to offer advice, planning, and our food, of course!
We’re always flexible and free with our catering – whether it’s your big day, a work event, or a 50th birthday, we’ll make sure your event is as special as you.
So, in summary…
Cornerstone isn’t just our newest venue. It’s our second home-from-home. Our city centre hub of happy times and fabulous events.
Our ‘place to be’, right in the centre of our city, serving Cardiff’s community for hopefully many years to come.
