As summer approaches, we’re out and about a lot more in Cardiff…
After one intense heatwave in the city, it’s time to get out the Pimm’s and embrace this early Greek-style summer – and what better way to do it than with some bespoke BBQ catering in Cardiff, served by Spiros?
But if you’re keen to try your own cooking adventures, not to worry – we’ve put together our top 5 cooking tips for a tasty summer BBQ.
#1 Don’t worry about playing it safe
It doesn’t have to just burgers & sausages, of course. Although everyone loves those typical BBQ foods, it’s always good to try something different. Fish, although a different choice, is great on a BBQ – take it from us!
#2 Preparation is key
Prepare your meat and marinade for up to 24 – 48 hours before the grilling takes place for lots of fabulous flavours.
Overall, preparation is the key. Get yourself a little table for outside so you won’t be running back & for to the kitchen or scrambling for anything. Instead, you’ll have everything to hand & can cook in peace.
#3 Get creative with your greens
People don’t eat the salads at BBQs only because they’re boring, or a last-minute addition for veggies. Why not experiment with different salads? There really are so many to choose from, other than just a plain green salad or coleslaw.
#4 Get a little heat under that dessert
Don’t forget you can cook dessert on the BBQ too! There’s nothing better than a banana stuffed with chocolate, wrapped in foil and left to cook through. Mmmm…
#5 Cook on the coals
This is probably our most important tip. Remember: you don’t cook on the flames. Wait for the coals to be glowing (usually about 20 – 30 minutes after lighting). Then you can grill to your heart’s content!
Bonus tip: Relax & get someone to do it for you
Not everyone’s a keen cook – why not chill out and just enjoy the day? You can hire Spiros to cook, serve and clean up after your entire BBQ experience.
As for us, we’ve been serving up al fresco food wherever we roam.
In this particular case, tuna steak, skewers, salmon, and sausages were on the menu. With fresh veg and fruit accompaniments, the cuisine was fresh, light, and summery – perfect for al fresco BBQ fine dining.
We love serving great food for people, whether it’s an one of our venues or at yours! Whether you hire a chef or do it yourself, we hope you enjoy our top 5 cooking tips for a tasty summer BBQ.
