As experienced caterers, we know what works when it comes to planning your event. That’s why we’ve partnered up with some of the most professionally run and beautiful venues around.

Every month we’ll be choosing one as our ‘Venue of the Month’; this time, it’s the majestic Pencoed House Estate.

Found in the picturesque village of Capel Llanilltern, the impressive Pencoed House Estate is as fairytale as a venue can get without coming from the pages of a Hans Christian Anderson book. This makes it the perfect place for any event that deserves an extra special atmosphere.

What type of venue is Pencoed House Estate?

Pencoed House Estate is one of the oldest properties in the County of Glamorgan. It’s a breathtaking venue that holds history, mystery, and beauty in equal measure.

The estate is made up of a stately banqueting hall (complete with original stone walls, a vaulted ceiling, and classic log fire), a boutique bar (which boasts panoramic views of local woodland) and a lovingly renovated barn where you can stay the night. This mix of rustic, classic beauty with romantic glamour makes it a gem hidden in the rolling hills of rural Cardiff.

Their 36 acres of grounds also includes a babbling brook, luscious lawns, and a wooden children’s play area, so that the little ones aren’t in danger of getting bored.

What makes it special?

Pencoed House Estate is a venue steeped not just in history, but also in folklore.

Although the estate is thought to have been built in the early fifteenth-century by Jevan ap David, its past can be traced back over half a millennium (some tales suggest it’s even older).

In this time the venue has played host to a Member of Parliament, Sheriffs of the County and descendants of a King of Glamorgan. There are legends that also suggest that it was once the residence of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere.

Even if the legends aren’t true (although it’s fun to think they are!) it’s easy to see where they come from. With its idyllic grounds, beautiful buildings and majestic archways, it doesn’t take a lot to imagine medieval monarchs strolling around the estate.

What type of event is it ideal for?

Pencoed House Estate’s regal air makes it perfect for any event with grand ambitions. Whether it’s weddings, christenings, banquets, proms, private parties, corporate hospitality, conferences, networking events, exhibitions or press launches – Pencoed House Estate plays host to them all.
